wow! A new world!
Feb. 19th, 2005 04:00 amSo I just recently discovered these... I've been hanging out on Tolkien Message boards for some time now, so it seems natural to move onto here.
I'm not quite sure what to use this for, but it seems to be a good way to keep up with friends and such. :)
What's been going on lately? Besides getting engaged a few weeks ago :D, I've been doing a ton of observing at the telescope. Since the many year drought has suddenly decided to break, I'm not having a whole lot of luck... so I have lots of time sitting on mountaintops nowdays. It's been pretty good for my crocheting though. I've learned how to do many more things (i.e. not just rectangles!) such as snowflakes, coasters, and shawls. I've also gotten more interested in different types of yarn, which is not good for the budget!
At least I'm making fun things for presents (scarves and ornaments and such).
Perhaps it's the time of year, but there were 6 couples getting engaged in the astronomy department in the past 3 weeks. wow.

Date: 2005-02-20 01:49 am (UTC)For romantic, I suppose Astronomy Camp is more like it - there we actually get to look through the eyepiece on the 61" telescope! :D
As for crocheting, I suppose a chain stitch is only useful for lines, it's the single crochet stitch that lets you turn around and go back. :)
I just learned knitting a month ago (only one stitch), but it's at least helped me figure out how that's done! Of course, there's all these amazing patterns out there, but are way too advanced. :(

Date: 2005-02-21 04:53 pm (UTC)I know so many people through TORC doing the things I am really interested in for a living!
(hug)
What a pity that though I DO do the only desk job I'd like ... I don't et to look through telescopes, like you, or microscopes like some other lucky fish I know, and so on and so forth.
*tiny wallow of self-pity*
HUGE GRIN!
Overall though, Life Is Good!
